WARNact has no accounts and no payments. You can read every page and download every table without telling us who you are. The layoff data on this site comes from public WARN Act filings and is not collected from visitors.
Usage data. Google Analytics records the pages you view, your approximate location, your browser and device type, and the site that referred you. It also records a few actions on the site: signing up for alerts, downloading a table, and following a link to a partner site or another website.
Email alert signups. If you sign up for alerts, we store your email address, the alerts you chose (national, a state, a city or a company), whether you confirmed the signup, when you signed up or unsubscribed, and a record of which digests we sent you.
Messages. If you email us, we receive whatever you put in the message.
Table downloads are generated in your browser. We do not ask for an email address to download data.
We use usage data to see which pages people find useful, to fix problems and to detect abuse. We use your email address only to send the alerts you asked for and to answer messages you send. We do not send marketing email outside the alerts you chose. An alert digest may include a link to a partner offer.
Alerts are double opt-in: no alerts are sent until you click the confirmation link we email you. If you do not confirm, we may send a reminder. Every alert email carries a one-click unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing stops all email at once. We keep the record, marked unsubscribed, so we do not email you again by mistake. To have your email address deleted entirely, write to us at the address below.
Google Analytics sets cookies to tell one visit from another. The site itself sets no cookies of its own. Journey by Mediavine and the advertising exchanges it works with set third-party cookies and similar identifiers to select and measure ads. You can manage advertising consent through the privacy link Journey adds to each page. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Residents of California and several other states have these rights by law, and we extend them to everyone.
Programmatic advertising may count as "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. You can opt out of that sharing at any time through the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link on each page. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, it is treated as that opt-out.
To make a request, email [email protected] with "Privacy request" in the subject line. We may ask you to confirm the request from the email address it concerns. We respond within 45 days. Exercising these rights does not change how the site works for you.
Google Analytics keeps user-level and event-level data for no more than 14 months. Aggregate reports, which identify no one, are kept longer. Alert records, including signups never confirmed, are kept until you ask us to delete them. Unsubscribing marks a record inactive; it does not remove it. Messages are kept as long as needed to answer them. The site is served only over HTTPS, and access to the subscriber list is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what we hold.
WARNact is not directed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
